Test cricket returned back to the Indian grounds after 15 months. South Africa was the last team which played a test series in India, before the World closed down due to corona virus. India won the series comfortably by a 3-0 margin. Cricket fans were looking forward for a similar type of cricket which India has displayed on home soil for the last 12 years. The recent success winning the series away aganist all odds in Australia has boosted the moral of the team as well as of the fans.
“Come on boys, let’s create some atmosphere inside the circle ” was heard on the stump mic when Rishabh pant tried to boost the moral of the bowlers on a wicket which was compared to a road by ex England captain Michael Vaughan. The match saw the return of Indian captain Virat Kohli but even his aggression did not fetch wickets for the team. The day belonged to the English captain who was playing his 100th test and what better way to celebrate the day by scoring his 19th test century. With his 19th century Joe root becomes the first batsman in the history of test cricket to score a century in his 98th, 99th and 100th test match. India’s strike bowler Jasprit Bumrah is playing a test match for the first time on Indian soil who by far was the best of all among the bowlers for India. India fought it way back in the game with a last over wicket, but looking at the nature of the wicket it seems England is eyeing for a big first Innings score.
The cricket pundits predicted a white wash for the Indians side but things look pretty balanced as the English side who have been in the sub continent for the last one month coming off from a series win in Sri Lanka looks fit for the Indian conditions. The series is poised for a roller coaster as the two best test playing sides looks well practised and motivated to qualify for the World test championship.
